The Energex Device The
Eneregex device utilizes pulsed radio-frequency energy to create low
level electrical stimulation in tissue. Pulsed corona discharge
energy is generated by an AC power source and is directed to a target
area via a transducer. The Energex device generates radio-frequency energy in the 460 kHz range. The energy is pulsed, i.e. rapidly cycled on and off, at 660 Hz. The corona discharge element is the subject of a US patent (#5,317,155) issued on May 31,1994. The external components of the device consist of a console or counter unit and a cable connecting the console to the hand held applicator. The basic function of the device is to generate a specific high frequency - high voltage electrical signal at the tip of the applicator. This electrical signal induces a "corona discharge" at the output surface of the applicator. Therapeutic benefits are achieved by applying this discharge to specific body surfaces, such as the knee, jaw, wrist, elbow, etc. The device is microprocessor controlled. The controller and the attached applicator are matched and tuned at the factory for proper operation. All parameters and controls are selected and entered via the Instrument's user interface panel. The microprocessor also controls the applicator via the trigger-in and enable-out signals. When the operator presses the trigger on the applicator, it outputs the enable signal to the generator for 20 seconds to accomplish one treatment. When the treatment is completed, a 7-second standby period is introduced before another treatment can be initiated. |
